Setup
Top Storage Co runs 13 self-storage facilities in Alabama, Tennessee, and Louisiana (topstorageco.com). NearbyPick ran a full initial scan for each facility: city-style self-storage questions, two runs each across ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, and Claude. Mentions matched the brand phrase "Top Storage", including longer listing names such as "Top Storage - Calera." Same-city facilities share the same city-level questions, which matches how paying multi-location accounts are scanned today.

What the scan found
- National chains such as Public Storage, Extra Space Storage, Life Storage, and CubeSmart still dominate many "self storage near [city]" answers, even where Top Storage has several facilities.
- Showing up on one assistant is not the same as showing up on four. Perplexity alone lifted a few city scores; ChatGPT, Gemini, and Claude stayed at zero in this baseline.
- Clarksville has five facilities and a portfolio score of 0 in this scan. Multi-location presence alone did not create AI presence.
- A score of 0 means Top Storage was not named in any scored answer for that city. Lincoln and Calera show up often on Perplexity, usually near the top when named.
