AI visibility is how often AI assistants like ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, and Google AI Overviews mention your business when people ask for a recommendation. If someone asks "Who's a good dentist in Houston?", AI visibility is whether you're in the answer.

Not in the answer itself. ChatGPT now shows some labeled ads below its answers, but OpenAI says ads "do not influence ChatGPT's answers" and advertisers can't "shape, rank, or alter" them (OpenAI Help Center). Being named in the answer depends on what assistants can find and trust on the web: your website, your listings, your reviews, and what other sites say about you.

Not for Google. Google says there are no extra technical requirements to appear in AI Overviews or AI Mode beyond being indexed in regular Google Search.
